ITMO University presents a brand new lecture course called "Open Fintech".

Given by leading experts in the field of financial technologies, "Open Fintech" is a course of lectures spilling the light on how we as everyday consumers make purchases, manage finances, and decide on investments. The six-part series will allow you to learn about the ins and outs of the payment industry, how its decisions are made, and what changes await it in the future. 

Held on April 18, the fifth lecture in the series will cover the topic of "Stock trading. Algorithmic approaches and fundamental analysis". 

What is stock market for and how was it created? Who are the sellers and what are their main approaches? Who are the so-called "fundamental investors" and can an algorithm outplay them?  What are the main weaknesses of algorithmic strategies and can we trust digits? The lecture will discuss all this and more, including the benefits of forecasting and the impact of behavioral tendencies on people's decisions. 

The lecture will be given by Andrey Saenko, lead analyst and portfolio manager at TKB Investment Partners, a company specializing in the management of international funds of Russian shares and Russian pension funds, as well as the implementation of global strategies for local clients, with a 600 billions rubles-worth of total amount of assets managed. Having worked in stock market investment for over 13 years, Andrey actively participates in the management of key Russian shares, and at his current position is in charge of investment in shares and high-yield bonds on global markets.
