Description

On January 29, 2020, ITMO University will host the lecture "Society 5.0. A concept of the digital society of the future".

The lecture will be given by Toshiyuki Zamma, Executive Advisor to Government CIO (Government of Japan Chief Information Officer), Special Advisor to Administrative Management Bureau, Government of Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (e-Government).

The lecture will explore the following topics:

  • measures on promoting the system of electronic government (e-Government), which constitutes an integral element in the implementation of Japan's official concept of Society 5.0;
  • examples of best practices of Japanese cities which harness artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), 3D modeling and other IT technologies for the implementation of projects on the improvement of social services (Smart City).

Developed and actively promoted by the Government of Japan, Society 5.0 is a strategy based on the concept of a "human-centered society that balances economic advancement with the resolution of social problems by a system that highly integrates cyberspace and physical space". Society 5.0 was proposed in the 5th Science and Technology Basic Plan as a future society that Japan should aspire to. It follows the hunting society (Society 1.0), agricultural society (Society 2.0), industrial society (Society 3.0), and information society (Society 4.0).

The lecture will be given in English with a synchronous translation into Russian.

The places are subject to limited availability. Please register here to attend.
