On the 25th of October in Beijing the exhibition called China Education Expo (CEE) started. It was organized by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE). The ITMO University took part in an international event in the field of education and higher education.
Today, the China Education Expo is one of the leading exhibitions of international education in the Asian region, oriented on the university entrants.Around 500 institutions of higher education from more than 42 countries, including the United States, Austria, Italy, UK, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, France, Japan and Russia, took part in the forum.During only the first working day there were more than 10 000 visitors on the exhibition.
The universities, who are actively involved in the program of the competitiveness improvement of the leading Russian universities among the world's leading research and education centers, were presenting the domestic high school on the united Russian exposition, organized with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation as well as on the booth of the office of the "5-100" program.They included the National University of Science and Technology "MISIS", Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Samara State Aerospace University, Saint Petersburg State Polytechnic University, N. I. Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod, Tomsk Technical University and the ITMO University.
In parallel to the exhibition, the representatives of the ITMO University participated in the conference, which was organized by the project office of the "5-100" program. During the event, Irina Kim, the director of the Center of Asian cooperationof the ITMO University, made a presentation.The specialist conducted her speech in Chinese, which was not typical for other Russian universities, which representatives were using the Russian language (meanwhile the majority of the representatives of the Chinese universities performed using the Russian language).
Also during the exhibition in China the University representatives held a series of meetings.With the long-standing partners from the The Harbin Institute of Technology, the questions of the further activity of the Association of Technical Universities of Russia and China (ATURK) were discussed. The questions of the organization of the joint autumn school at the ITMO University (5 -16 November) and the creation of a joint Russian-Chinese Institute on the basis of two universities, were discussed on the meeting with the Changchun University of Science and Technology. On the meeting with Hebei Pedagogical University the options for cooperative IT direction education program were discussed.
At a meeting with the new partners from the North China Electric Power University, the ITMO University managed to agree about cooperation within the framework of the University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the field of "energetics". In the future, the Chinese representatives want to send to Russia their students for training.
Also as the part of the business communication, the representatives of the ITMO University and the representatives of the Rossotrudnichestvo discussed the participation of the University in the "Time to study in Russia" project.This program will allow the University to obtain additional quotas for training of the Chinese students.In this regard, several meetings were held with recruiting agencies to recruit Chinese students.
In the framework of business communication there was a meeting with the representatives of Dalian secondary school, which curriculum is oriented on the in-depth studies of informatics and includes Russian language as a compulsory subject.Under the existing agreement, the school graduates can enter the ITMO University after writing the special testing.Such type of the cooperation with schools already exists in some Russian universities, like, for example, in the Herzen University and in the Ural State University.
Besides negotiations with Chinese partners, there were also meetings with many European colleagues from France (Business School of La Rochelle), Sweden (KTH Royal Institute of Technology), Germany (University of Siegen), United Kingdom (Queen Mary University of London, King's College London), as well as from the US, in particular from the New York University and University of California, University of San Francisco.
In addition to numerous university entrants and their parents, the exhibition was visited by George Rudnicki, the director of the Center for Sociological Research, Nikolai Toivonen, the director of the international department of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Yu Tszihay, the deputy director of the department of international cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and Zhao Yuxia, the head of the 985 and 211 national projects of Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and many others. During the visit, the honored guests inspected the exhibition exposition and made presentations during the business section of the conference.
"It is necessary to participate in such a representative international events. For the University it is a good opportunity to tell the representatives of other countries about itself and about its achievements. The participation of Russian universities in such exhibitions is for our Chinese partners the confirmation of the status of progressive, innovative and evolving educational system", Irina Kim summarizes.
