The delegation from the Lappeenranta University of Technology visited ITMO University

From the 3rd to the 5th of December, the delegation from Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) was visiting the ITMO University. The visit was organized with the support of the Department of the overseas development and partnership.

Foreign colleagues held a meetings with representatives of the faculties of photonics, optical information systems and technologies, international laboratory "Nonlinear-optical informatics", departments of laser technologies and environmental instrumentation, measurement technologies and computer tomography, mechatronics.

The main topic of discussion was the development of cooperation. As Georgy Maslov, the head of the department of international educational programs, pointed out, the visit of the Finnish colleagues is important for the ITMO University, because LTU is its longtime partner.

"Now it is especially important to strengthen and develop mutually beneficial relations. We discussed the prospects for the creation and development of joint master's programs, which, of course, is of fundamental importance for the ITMO University. In addition, we talked about the possible involvement of the ITMO University in European projects such as the APOLLO and ERASMUS MUNDUS. As we all know, it is not yet easy for Russian universities to get involved in these projects, and colleagues from the LUT can provide some significant support for us", he comments.

By the results of the visit, an agreement on the implementation of the LUT Master double degree program with the Department of Mechatronics was decided to be signed, the main stages of the implementation of joint programs with the departments of laser technologies and environmental instrumentation, photonics and optoinformatics, optoelectronic devices and systems, optical lasers were defined.
