12:30 p.m. The Ibn al-Haytham’s contribution in optics and Renaissance art.
Professor Charles M. Falco from the Arizona State University will talk about discoveries of the Arab scholar Ibn al-Haytham in XI century, as well as explicit and implicit connections between artists and optics researchers since ancient times: mirror anamorphosis, perspective distortion, common philosophical foundations of science and creation.
1:00 p.m. Light inside the triangle: art, science and technology.
Lecture by Professor Sergei Stafeev from ITMO University devoted to premises of penetration of optics in architecture, painting, theater and other visual arts. To illustrate his speech professor will give examples from the history of cooperation and rivalry between the great artists and scientists: Vermeer and Leeuwenhoek, Rubens and Agviloni, Goethe and Newton.
1:30 p.m. Light and Art are inextricably linked.
Professor Alessandro Farini from the University of Florence will talk about the future of light technologies on the examples of the relationship between optics and creation from different eras.
