ITMO University signed a four-year agreement with the leading Spanish universities including the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) and the Charles III University of Madrid (UC3M), that place high in QS World University Rankings.
“This exchange program offers an opportunity to study at a foreign university for a semester. The unique feature of this program is that students will attend classes at several universities at the same time,” said Ekaterina Tulugurova, the head of the Department of International Educational Programs.
Students who want to participate in this program have to present a resume, a motivational letter and also list universities by priority. Then candidates are interviewed in English. Now“ Erasmus+” offers 60 scholarships for Russian students and 30 for foreign students. The first exchange will be at the beginning of 2016.
Each student receives a grant which partially covers the costs of room and board in Spanish university dormitories. Students going on exchange under the ERASMUS+ program do not pay any tuition fees. ITMO University makes the life of the students participating in the international exchange easier: all the exams passed while studying abroad, will be recognized at home.
“Spanish students will come to ITMO University in spring. This time we will originate the “Exchange semester” program, in the framework of which foreign students will be able choose courses in English according to their interest. If the program is successful, we will progress to the teacher exchange program”.
Mrs. Tulugurova also noted that over the last years ITMO University has established contacts with many foreign universities.
“We can organize an exchange with one of our research and educational partners for all students who speak English well. The Foreign Language Training Center of ITMO University offers a wide range of English courses and individual consultations for students. Now we realize that thanks to our comprehensive approach, more and more students of ITMO University want to study abroad”.
