The Summer School for Polish students is held for the first time. It is a unique project, which is not typical for ITMO University.
“Last year professor Andrzej Sitarski, the head of the Institute of Russian Studies of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań visited ITMO University. He really enjoyed his visit and wasn`t hesitant because of the fact that technical university is going to hold classes in humanities. In fact, ITMO University has multidisciplinary program. For many years international students study Russian language,” said Galina Yurkova, the deputy director of the International Student Affairs Office.
The Summer School on Russian language and culture became very popular in Poland. Students, graduates and even Russian language teachers from different Polish cities wanted to come to St. Petersburg. Thus 99 participants from the largest Polish universities took part in this project.
Apart from Russian language, participants of the School studied history and culture. All School members were divided into small groups. The most fluent groups read Russian literature in the original and studied Cultural Linguistics. In spite of a busy schedule the program of the School also included Kronshtadt and St. Petersburg. sightseeing tours.
Mrs. Yurkova noted that the Russian-Polish School will be held next year too. Moreover, the International Student Affairs Office attracts more and more students from different countries in order to develop international educational projects.
