This center will be set up with the assistance of the Center of Cluster Development and the Business Incubator INGRIA, branches of the “Technopark” of ITMO University. Apart from educational programs and business development trainings the Prototyping Center will provide conditions for designing and testing of innovative products before an extensive production. The main feature of this center is that it will be accessible to many of St. Petersburg companies.
Currently there are three Fabrication Laboratories in Saint Petersburg where startuppers can construct hi-tech products. FABLAB of ITMO University Technopark is one of them. Visitors will be able to implement their projects and ideas with the help of modern laboratory equipment free of charge and also get guidance from FABLAB experts. Aleksey Schekoldin, the administrator of the FABLAB noted that that the only thing a visitor of FABLAB needs is production material.
“In last five months we have turned a lot of interesting projects into reality. For example, a member of the Moscow Association for the Blind designed a special keyboard here”.
Apart from personal and commercial projects the FABLAB also provides various master classes and workshops. The most popular training course is “3D model making”. Android programming course is also planned in the nearest future.
