What inspired you to invent this device?
Andrey Alekseev: I played the guitar and sometimes I forgot some tabs. At that time it occurred me that it would be very cool to a have luminous unit on my fingerboard, which could help me play.
How does it work?
Aleksander Eletsky: the controller box connected by USB cable with a computer transmits a signal to a fingerboard sticker, which lights the places where stings should be touched. Users will download the application using our website, which we develop. Besides that we are working on the song database.
Aleksander Potashev: the only thing, which a user should buy is “GCover” device, then he or she downloads the free application and exercises for beginners.
You have developed a pilot prototype. How much does it cost?
Aleksander Eletsky: the fingerboard sticker works thanks to a luminous color, which is very expensive.
How are you going to attract skilled players?
Andrey Alekseev: we want to invent two types of the “GCover”. The first one is for beginners; the second one is for qualified players. It means that the advanced players will have an opportunity to practice and improvise. Moreover the device will record all previous tabs, so a guitarist will have his own database.
How much time do you need to upgrade the “GCover”?
Aleksander Eletsky: it is difficult to buy flexible electronics because such components are not produced in Russia. That is why we have to buy it in China. We are going to develop the completed version of the device this fall.
Are you going to attract investors?
Andrey Alekseev: I think that our development could be interesting for large music stores. However we haven`t discussed it yet.
Aleksander Eletsky: our project is quite controversial because luminous elements are unknown for some people. They suppose that blinking lights may harm the eyes. That is why we are going to make pre-release version and test it. Then we will start looking for investors.
