Gennady Boltunov, the head of the Admission Office of ITMO University, noted that according to the latest statistics the average mark of a Unified State Exam is 79, 7 in comparison with 78, 9, the result of 2014. About 4, 500 candidates applied for state-funded places this year.
“I decided to enter ITMO University because it is one of the best IT universities in Russia. Furthermore it organizes a variety of student activities like sports club, student contests and festivals,” said Svyatoslav Pavlov, the freshman of the Department of Integrated Military Education.
According to the Admission Process some aspiring students didn`t have to pass a Unified State Exam because they had won all-Russian academic competition and other significant contests. About 25% of all entrants are straight-A students. Some 120 international high school graduates have been welcomed to ITMO University bachelor programs this year.
The Department of Computer Technologies and Controlling and the Information Technologies and Programming Department are traditionally the most popular departments of ITMO University. To be admitted one has to demonstrate a very high average mark: 83 points.
Some 1, 883 graduate students are going to continue their studies at ITMO University Master’s Programs. More than 7, 500 students applied for these programs this year. ITMO University plans to add another 300 state-funded places by 2016. The most popular Master`s research fields are information security, IT, economics and business informatics.
Double-degree Programs are also very popular this year. About 150 students will have a two year international program. It means that they will spend the first year in St. Petersburg and the second at one of the partner universities abroad. These students will get two Diplomas.
