Maria Didikovskaia, director of the Center, opened a welcome ceremony of the training. Mrs. Didikovskaia noted that English teaching is one of the key elements of comfortable English language environment development. When ITMO University took part in “5-100” program these activities became very important because they turned ITMO University into internationally-oriented institution.
The program of the training included lectures and seminars connected with following issues:
- Pronunciation and accent reduction;
- Communicative method as an effective way of English teaching;
- Current ways of English language teaching at universities.
Apart from educational lectures teachers and tutors also took part in team-building activities and games.
This training is a part of multiple linguist`s advanced training program of ITMO University. During the whole previous semester teachers of the Chair of Foreign Languages with the assistance of the Foreign Language Training Center were preparing for Cambridge “Teaching Knowledge Test”.
The process of comfortable English language environment development includes a variety of activities. Extra classes of English language were added to Bachelor`s program. Thus they have four English classes per week. Foreign Language Training Center also organized morning and evening English trainings for employees and researchers of ITMO University.
A novelty of 2015-2016 academic year is teaching engineering disciplines in English. ITMO University experts develop a new program in order to teach senior Bachelors to write scientific papers and prepare them for participation in international double-degree programs.
