According to Igor Baranov, head of the Chair of Physics-2 based on Department of Cryogenic Techniques and Air Conditioning, ITMO University established following labs: two laboratories of mechanics, two molecular physics labs and an electricity and magnetism lab. Some necessary equipment for practical trainings focused on optics and atomic physics were also purchased in order to establish one more laboratory in 2016.
“Equipment for these labs was developed in Russia. Moreover, ITMO University engineers invented a laboratory bench for the magnetism lab,” noted Mr. Baranov.
New labs are accessible for all ITMO University students. Thanks to high-tech equipment young researchers can provide a variety of research activities such as motion and vibration study, moment of inertia and friction analyze, mechanisms of metal resistance research etc.
“We are also going to organize practical trainings for high-school students in order to prepare them for advanced education in physics,” commented Igor Baranov.
