“EdCrunch”, an international conference on educational technologies, brought together heads of leading Russian universities and specialists in online learning for the second time.
Apart from a presentation of a National Platform, experts also discussed quality of online lectures and knowledge evaluation process. ITMO University together with representatives of other universities outlined the guidelines for online curriculum development.
“Developing this guideline we tried to answer the following questions: what structure is more convenient for Russian online courses and how to evaluate knowledge. We put a lot of effort to develop these recommendations but I think we succeeded,” said Dmitriy Kopylov, head of multimedia technologies lab of Distance Learning Center.
The most contravertial issue of online learning is how to evaluate knowledge. To receive a certificate, validated by universities, a student has to be identified. It is also very important to monitor examination process. A student doesn`t have to cheat. Apart from a special centre where students will be identified and tested experts are going to use audio video distant control systems called “proctoring” and “eye-tracker” systems that analyze an eye contact with a monitor.
