Over two evenings, Alexander Park turned into a large-scale outdoor exhibition of illuminated installations developed by students at ITMO University. Also, during the festival, artistic groups performed, lighting workshops and lighting shows were held.
“Today we see the results of students’ work from the Creative Light Design School, which aims to create a community which would draw attention to light culture in St. Petersburg. We are not saying that this is one of the most important fields, but we are saying that it is relevant and cool. We hope that people of our city including children will become interested this field and us as a university who prepares such specialists.” – commented Anna Veklich, Rector’s assistant for Public Relations, and Head of Strategic Communications Department at ITMO University.
The festival programme also included top professionals, architects, designers and experts participating in the Lighting Design 2015 conference. For example, Roger Narboni, legendary urbanist, participated in the discussions on how to develop urban spaces and the latest lighting and illuminating technology. Mr. Narboni has created lighting solutions for the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris, Château de Chambord, Rion-Antirion Cable-Stayed Bridge in Greece, and the Grand Canal in Guangzhou, etc.
