Netrica`s activities cover automated information systems` development. It collaborates with ITMO University for a year. Thus partners made a decision to establish more contacts. Netrica is going to offer students real problems that they can solve. Their solutions will be used as a base for governmental IT systems.
“When we launched our company it consisted of ten experts. Now more than 100 people work here. It is necessary for us to focus on universities by collaborating with students. It gives an opportunity to train skilled managers and programmers. Being involved in real projects they gain experience and and get to be hired,” said Alexei Ilyin, deputy directior of Netrica. “We develop IT projects for our government. Universities don`t train specialists connected with this specific field. For example, hiring B2B specialists we have to train them again in order to turn them into B2G experts. However, the chair of State Information Systems Management is an exception. It provides the same activities as our company.”
According to Andrey Chugunov, head of the chair of State Information Systems Management, an academic program includes only those competences that are necessary for young specialists. However until now ITMO University had no enough opportunities to make contacts with companies connected with state systems because most of them were in Moscow.
Alexei Ilyin also noted that ITMO University students will be offered to collect data, analyze parts of a large system as well as to develop infrastructure issues.
“It is necessary for IT student to obtain hands on experience. Thus having graduated from university he or she will be confident in acquired knowledge because his thesis is based not only on theory, but also on a real project,” noted Mr. Ilyin.
Netrica offered students to take part in internship programs connected with business analytics, software programs` development and testing. Furthermore partners are going to develop long term joint usability testing projects that aim to support state web services making them easy to use.
