On 9 of October 2013, in St. Petersburg the ceremony of signing of an agreement between the State Russian Museum and the St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics was held. Specific areas of work will be discussed later, but now scientists ITMO offer a number of designs that can be used in the Russian Museum. Among them are: the technology of laser cleaning of sculptures, the creating of three-dimensional digital copies of the painting, techniques of distance identification of museum values, etc.


Vladimir Gusev, the director of the Russian Museum said: "We started a program to create virtual branches of the Museum 10 years ago. At the moment there are about 130 ones. We understand that today technology offers a lot of opprtunities but we do not have enough resources. Therefore it is important for us to cooperate with the University". 

Vladimir Vasiliev, the rector of the NRU ITMO spoke about the experience of cooperation of the University with the Aleksandrinsky Theater. On 15 of May this year, the results of the interaction was demonstrated at the opening of the New Stage of the Theater. The University ITMO took an active part in creation of the theater media center. It was intended as a springboard for research and experimentation, "creative ground" for students, actors, directors, allowing the use of innovative developments in performances.
The unique master's degree program "Multimedia technology in the art of theater, film and television" was also created in 2013 by the NRU ITMO and the Academy of Performing Arts. In the process of education students are divided into teams consisting of the director, technical and literary directors, set designer and technical expert. Representatives of the NRU IFMO noted that in the further the education program can become an international one. The partners from the United States (University of California, Los Angeles) are already interested in cooperation of engineering and theater or cultural representatives. 

The signing ceremony took place at the II International Conference "Culture: the state, business and society. The principles of cooperation for the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage in the Information Society". The NRU ITMO, the Theatre Academy, the University of Film and Television and the Aleksandrinsky Theater have organized the Conference.
