The final ranking is made up of three groups and reflects the quality of educational programs and research projects as well as the comprehensiveness of each school’s development program and management system. It also provides guidance for the schools and their partners on how to further improve and develop their activities. This year, ITMO’s Advanced Engineering School is once again in the lead – since its founding in 2022, it has proven year after year the quality of the university’s business partnerships, which aim to train specialists for the attainment of technological leadership.
“Since its first day, the Advanced Engineering School was developed along the principle of deep integration of business partners into our educational activities. Today, the AES is a whole ecosystem with a sustainable model of interaction with businesses and its community. Within this system, the heads of research and engineering groups hold a key role – they aren’t afraid to take responsibility for results, believe in their daring projects, and are confident that there are no unsolvable problems. Thanks to all this, we’ve managed to maintain a leading position in the ranking for the third year in a row,” says Alexander Vinogradov, the head of ITMO’s Advanced Engineering School.
Starting this year, the first 30 schools from 15 regions – ITMO AES included – will transition into a new funding stage. Three years into the project, the participants will begin relying on an external budget; in other words, investments from industrial partners. From 2022 until 2024, the project was a part of the national program Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation. Now, the Advanced Engineering Schools initiative is a part of the federal project Universities for a Generation of Leaders, itself a part of the national project Youth and Children.
Earlier on, 30 schools taking part in the project’s first wave presented their progress reports and development strategies to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. In its report, the ITMO AES focused on its training of engineering leadership staff for high-tech industries with the support of its partners – Tatneft, Russian Railways, UPT, and Gazprom Neft.
