Why did you decide to do a Master's degree in information security?

I chose this program because of the high salary, as data is in digital form today and organizations demand that people protect their data. I have always been interested in how to protect the data system and how to prevent attackers from accessing an unauthorized system, also how to attack hackers and find the details of their malicious files to prevent future inconvenience.

How did you become a student at ITMO University?

I have received the opportunity to study thanks to the Open Doors scholarship, and I chose ITMO university for its good management, friendly atmosphere and talented teachers.

What was your educational path before joining ITMO?

I completed my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Preston University in Pakistan, I was also on a scholarship. I won many scholarships during my studies such as merit scholarships and German government scholarships (DAFI).

In what language are you studying for your Master's degree?

I am studying for my degree in English as there was the opportunity to choose the language from the beginning. And I feel more comfortable studying in English since it’s much better than my Russian.

What can you tell us about university life as an international student?

So far I have not been able to really experience life in Russia as an international student since I have studied online from my home in the United Arab Emirates. However, I can say what little of student life I’ve been able to experience, I’ve liked – the university does everything possible to make you feel comfortable so that you can take your learning process to the highest level, even if it is online.

What are your hobbies?

I really like doing sports when I have free time, my favorite activities are going to the gym or swimming.

What are your plans for the future?

For now, I would like to take advantage of the university as much as possible, and do practical jobs to get new knowledge. After finishing my Master's degree I hope I will find a good job in a big company with a good salary.

Any advice for other international students who want to come to Russia and do a Master's degree here?

I would recommend that you apply for a scholarship and study in Russia. This country provides good quality education with a very low accommodation price tag.
