The school is exclusively for Russian students. International applicants can avail themselves of Mega Contest – an online entrance competition for Bachelor’s students and graduates that has two English-led tracks: physics and robotics. More on the contest here

On Mega School 

The school features three days of lectures and workshops by ITMO’s experienced curators. As part of the school, participants will get to meet experts in IT, robotics, physics, chemistry, and other fields, as well as find out more about studying at ITMO and different opportunities offered by the university. Winners will gain the chance of admission at ITMO without having to take entrance exams. 214 students were enrolled via the opportunity last year; the contest welcomed over a total of 1,000 participants in two years. 

How to apply

The contest is open for Bachelor’s students of any Russian university and those with a higher education degree of any level. 

To participate in the competition, applicants need to register on the website (link in Russian), fill out their personal information, select the track of their interest, and wait for a follow-up email with detailed instructions. 

Applications are accepted until January 28, 2025, 11:59 pm (GMT +3).

Mega School in 2025

Date: January 29-31, 2025.

Format: fully online; applicants can join the contest from anywhere in Russia. 

Mega School will be held over three days: students will first attend common themed lectures, then join classes within the chosen tracks, and have a knowledge test by the end of the course. 

Lectures. Lectures on the first day will be delivered by ITMO professors and invited experts. Recorded lectures will be available on the event’s website. Participants will also be able to ask their questions in a designated chat. 

Tracks. On the second and third days, students will have classes within their tracks. There are 18 tracks overall: AI, software engineering, computer technologies, mobile app development, physics, chemistry, and many others. The complete list of tracks can be found here. Each track includes lectures, practical classes, workshops, and discussions. Note that workshops and lectures won’t be recorded.

Final task and results. Students will need to pass a knowledge test to complete the course. Test format depends on the chosen track. 

Winners will be announced on the website; they will be eligible to enroll in ITMO Master's  programs within their track without having to take entrance exams.
