The program will be focusing on key disciplines within three fundamental blocks: mathematics, programming and IT, and machine learning. All the courses are practice-oriented, with the mathematics and programming blocks paying special attention to data processing challenges. Moreover, several courses will be delivered in collaboration with practicing experts from VK. The program also includes working on real-world case studies of VK's services and technologies.
“AI is growing rapidly: from a rather exotic technology, it’s transformed into one of the main drivers of global economy. Consequently, the demand for related specialists skyrocketed – whereas before we were talking about the need for dozens of high-profile ML and data engineering specialists, these days the market needs hundreds or even thousands of them every year. As we were developing this program with VK Education, we knew that we were making a unique educational product, that our graduates will be in high demand on the market now and in the future,” shares Semyon Kraev, the dean of ITMO’s Faculty of Digital Transformation.
The new program’s curriculum was developed in collaboration with VK Education and the National Center for Cognitive Technologies. Students of the program will take their internships and practical training at VK and ITMO’s labs, allowing them to try their hands at real-world applied projects and tasks already in their third year.
“At VK, we are actively developing the educational track and investing in the IT industry. Right now, in collaboration with the country’s leading universities, we are training experts in the most sought-after IT fields. AI Engineering, the program we’ve created with ITMO, answers the existing market demands. Together with ITMO, we are aiming at training specialists who will be able to ensure successful implementation of AI into various business processes,” adds Georgy Shchelkanov, the director for collaboration with universities at VK.
