November is definitely the month not to be enjoyed, but to be survived. To my luck, I discovered Svet by AIGEL, which, thanks to its delicate angel-like vocals spiced up with moving electronic tunes, made these weeks much more bearable. Although the song’s name literally means light, it matches St. Pete’s seasonal greyness perfectly.

For me, the coolest thing about this artist is that some of their tracks are performed in Tatar (check marvelous Bush Bash or Pyyala) – such an elegant way to integrate an endangered language into modern culture!

Up until two days ago I was sure my song of the month would be the recently discovered One Day by Imagine Dragons, who I turned to because of their upcoming 2022 show in St. Pete. And this song truly sustained me through the challenges of this mostly gloomy month – “one day I’ll be the one to make you happy,” I hummed to myself waking up at 6:30 am to cram in my internship before office hours. It worked. But then Hot Tea by Half Alive came along and took over my heart. Unsurprisingly, I guess, because while wishing for the future is soothing, it’s so much more self-assuring to claim life right now and in full. “Taking it all in life-size bites” from now on!

Dark and dreary – that’s November! This month was for sure not generous with sunny days and though the weather didn’t set a good tone, my playlist was not as gloomy as I thought it might be (although guilty, I do have Radiohead there, too). All thanks to Acting My Age by The Academic, which did an awesome job at pumping me up even on a rainy day. It’s all summer, kinda highschool vibes: being reckless, hanging out with friends, and simply having fun – a definite YES when you need to take a break and refocus.

Somehow, Morrissey is the kind of an artist whose best songs are not the most popular ones. In a way, this is sad, but on the bright side, there’s always a chance to discover a hidden gem. You Must Please Remember is one of such songs – even though it was recorded back in the ‘90s, I, being a big fan, haven’t heard it until now. I love the way it’s both melancholic and upbeat, like many of Morrissey’s songs.

Nothing suits November better than daring and honest blues-rock and unanswered questions. So let's listen to the new album by Joe Bonamassa, Time Clocks (I was especially affected by the track Questions and Answers) and enjoy these dark and frank times!

With St. Petersburg starting to get some snowfall, the stage is being set for a Merry Christmas. I am particularly excited this year because it is going to be my first snowy Christmas. Unfortunately, in my hometown we do not get any snowfall. Therefore, I am humming this famous song by Andy Williams called It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.
