Inspired by the concept of anemoia (a nostalgia for a time you never experienced), the exhibition reflects on the Thaw period in Russian history and examines why this historic chapter continues to fascinate new generations. Key pieces on display are graphics by Pablo Picasso and never-exhibited-before drawings by Joseph Brodsky, among many others.

Through a vast, intimate archive of over a thousand photographs, taken when cameras were just emerging, the exhibition spotlights the countess' multifaceted personality and documents her family’s life.

Fitting into the city’s recent exhibition “trend” on portraiture, the display draws attention to provincial art by switching from academic to lesser-known and even unknown artists. The collection features 80 portraits of men, women, and families, most of which are exhibited for the first time.
