AIaaS solutions are widely used to optimize workflows, improve customer experience through predictive analytics, image and speech recognition systems, bots, and other technological advances, as well as provide access to ample opportunities and AI tools to businesses that have no specialized infrastructure or expertise in this field.
With the goal of making AI solutions more accessible and affordable, the platform is expected to become one of the world’s leading platforms for the development of ML services and algorithms in the IT sector that will additionally help the Russian market expand internationally.
“Technology is a key priority for RDIF. We consistently invest in promising AI projects to help them reach their full potential. Nowadays, AI applications span over a wide range of fields, including but not limited to IT, education, healthcare, transportation, trade, and energy. At the same time, emerging high-tech products and services powered by AI spark the interest of not only industry leaders but also small and medium-sized businesses. Therefore, we expect our joint platform with ITMO University to notably enhance our country's technological sovereignty along with its competencies in the field of high technology and help our products successfully meet the needs of both internal and global markets,” comments Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).
“ITMO University is a national research university with its primary focus being on scientific activities. In addition to the Research Center “Strong AI in Industry,” which was established as part of the federal Artificial Intelligence project, the university also has the Competence Center of National Technology Initiative in machine learning and cognitive technologies. What’s more, it also promotes the synthesis of research and industry, thus producing exceptional product-oriented specialists for the sector,” notes Alexander Boukhanovsky, the head of ITMO’s School of Translational Information Technologies.
RDIF has vast expertise in attracting investments for Russian AI projects along with an extensive network of international partners and recognition as a leading institution for the development of AI in Russia. Furthermore, the foundation took an active part in the drafting of the National Strategy for the Development of AI and the Federal Project “Artificial Intelligence” and actively promotes the implementation of AI at Russian enterprises, the development of associated infrastructure, and the introduction of domestic developments and products into the global market.
RDIF is also a part of the AI Alliance, which brings together AI enterprises: it fosters funding and participates in other activities of the alliance.
ITMO's scientific and educational areas of focus range from chemistry, genomics, and biotechnology to robotics, urban studies, and materials science. At its core, however, is artificial intelligence, which helps pave the way for training top-tier professionals, incorporating machine learning tools across various industries, and promoting a product approach and business thinking among lecturers and students.
