This year 1, 100 researchers and business officials from 30 countries exchanged their points and made new contacts at BioFIT-2015. Taking part in discussions, roundtable and partner meetings as well as presenting innovative inventions delegates shared modern trends in biotechnologies, medicine and pharmacology.
One of the most topical issues was development of foodstuffs with curative properties and health-oriented meals necessary for people suffering from oncology diseases, diabetes, fatness and others. ITMO University researchers have been focusing on this field for several years. They have presented such products as hypoallergic glutenless cookies and fermented dairy food.
Experts also discussed commercialization of inventions and the problems connected with implementation of new products into the market. They came to the point that educational and research centers can serve as drivers of the development.
“Russian centers serve as strategic partners of international organizations because they have multiple raw materials. Presenting our achievements at this meeting for the first time we were appreciated by our international colleagues. We are going to present our inventions and make some reports next year…” noted Olga Orlova, associate professor of Department of Food Biotechnologies and Engineering.
ITMO University experts met with representatives of large universities, research centers and consulting firms. Thus Russians discussed academic exchange activities and joint research projects with a French university SUP’Biotech.
Apart from that ITMO University representatives make contacts with such international clinic and diagnostic centers as Eurasanté bio-incubator, Teclis Instruments, Oncovet Clinical Research, InVentiv Health. They also discussed partnership with such Swiss firms as Biowebspin and Fybden.
“ITMO University supports the modern trend by developing healthy and nutritious products. Department of Food Biotechnologies and Engineering plans to develop products for those people who suffer from widespread diseases. Oncovet Clinical Research and InVentiv Health are also interested in such activities. As our international colleagues we aim to exchange experience and provide joint research projects,” said Ludmila Nadtochiy, associate professor of Department of Food Biotechnologies and Engineering.
