  • ITMO University Up by 100 in QS World University Rankings

    The results of this year’s QS World University Ranking, published annually by the Quacquarelli Symonds company, have now been published. This year, QS assessed 4,763 universities (out of the world’s 26,000) from 151 countries, which is 463 more educational establishments than last year. The final ranking includes 1,011 universities from 85 countries. Last year, ITMO University made its debut in the ranking in the 601-650 position, which placed it in the top 2% of the planet’s universities; this year, the university was ranked 511-520, almost a 100 positions higher than its previous result.

  • ITMO Tops Science Popularisation Ranking

    Indicator, a popular science site, has recently come up with a science popularisation ranking. It has evaluated effectiveness of PR activities of universities participating in Project 5-100 in the first half of 2017. The results were based on a questionnaire developed by Indicator, which was filled out by staff members of the universities’ PR-departments. ITMO topped this ranking, receiving 36 points out of 39 possible. Tomsk Polytechnic University (35 points), Higher School of Economics (35 points) and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (34 points) came second and third in the ranking, accordingly.

  • ITMO University Debuts in THE Physical Sciences Ranking

    The results of this year’s Times Higher Education (THE) subject ranking in Physical Sciences have been unveiled at a press conference as part of the 22nd seminar-conference of Project 5-100. The Physical Sciences ranking was presented by THE’s team of top officials and Editorial Director Phil Baty. ITMO University made its debut in the ranking, placing 401-500.

  • Leading Russian Universities Open Doors to International Students

    An intellectual competition for future international Master’s students, the Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project, is kicking off soon, with registration of participants beginning on Nov. 20, 2017. Winners will get an opportunity to study tuition-free, courtesy of the government of the Russian Federation, at Russia’s leading universities. The subject areas include Mathematics, Physics, Computer  Science and Economics. The contest is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and is organized by the “Global Universities” Association.

  • ITMO Codes Its Way to Top of Academic Excellence Project 5-100

    Today representatives of ITMO University presented the university’s Road Map for the implementation of the 5-100 Russian Academic Excellence Project. 16 out of 21 universities that participate in the project have presented their Road Maps to the Council on Competitiveness Enhancement of Leading Russian Universities. The Council’s sessions will be held on October 27 to 28 at the Sverdlovsk Oblast Governor’s Residence in Yekaterinburg. Among the top-performing universities are HSE, ITMO University, MEPhI, MIPT, NSU, MISiS and Tomsk State University.

  • ITMO up by 15 places in QS EECA University Rankings

    The results of Quacquarelli Symonds’s ranking of the top universities in Emerging Europe and Central Asia have been unveiled. This ranking, published since 2014, includes 251 universities from 20 countries. There are 74 Russian universities on the list, of which 13 are in the top-50. ITMO University has once again showed upward growth, moving up by 15 positions and placing 66th.

  • Show, Don't Tell: ITMO.SHOW Provides Access to All ITMO Presentations

    ITMO University has launched the ITMO.SHOW Presentations Cloud – a useful online tool that provides access to all of the presentations used by the university staff to present its programs and features. Presentations on ITMO’s five schools, introductory presentations for Russian and international audiences, roadmap presentations for Project 5-100’s International Council – all this and more can be found at ITMO.SHOW.

  • QS World University Rankings: ITMO Among Top 2% of World’s Universities

    ITMO University has made its debut in QS World University Rankings, placed 601-650 in the global ranking. This year the QS company evaluated more than 4,300 higher education institutions for its ranking, of which 980 have ended up in the final list – 62 more than last year. There are approximately 26,000 universities in the world, meaning that ITMO University is among the world’s top 2%. This spring, ITMO University also made its debut in QS’s Subject Rankings being placed 351-400 in two subjects: Computer Science & Information Systems and Physics & Astronomy.

  • Mobile University: ITMO Presents Plans and Research Projects to Project 5−100's International Council

    On Saturday, March 18, the Council on Competitiveness Enhancement of Leading Russian Universities among Global Research and Education Centers finished its recent session. Representatives of 21 universities — Project 5−100's participants — gathered in Moscow to report their results and define plans for 2017.

  • New Priorities in Education: A Press Conference by the Minister of Education

    Olga Vasilyeva, Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, held a press-conference where she described the present state of Russia's higher education system and shared about the plans for its future. The Minister underlined that education in the field of engineering and natural sciences is today's priority, stressed that universities have to become their region's social and cultural centers, and noted the necessity of involving private investments in development of science.
