Russoft, an association of Russian software developers, has unveiled its ninth annual ranking of Russian universities that train IT specialists. With this evaluation, it’s possible to assess the quality of software developers’ training and the number of highly trained graduates. Universities are ranked based on the total score they receive from their graduates’ potential employers – major Russian software companies.

In 2024, the number of participating employers reached a record 303, up from last year’s 249. Employer representatives were asked to evaluate each university by two criteria: quality of education and number of graduates with at least the minimal required level of training. In 2024, the evaluation scale changed from a three- to a five-grade one. At the same time, respondents had to justify the points they chose to give each university.

ITMO has been among the leaders of the Russoft ranking for five years. This year, the university also became the leader among universities named best by organizations from other Russian regions – this list didn’t include the evaluations by St. Petersburg-based companies. Thus, it demonstrates the significance of ITMO on the national scale. In total, the ranking included over 130 universities.
