The Contest took place on December 6 and occupied four locations at the same time: St. Petersburg, Barnaul, Tbilisi and Tashkent. Thus ITMO University brought together 102 teams from 268 cities.

“Being the largest one this semi-final was one of the most significant. Furthermore, participants of Northeastern Europe Regional Contest have been showing the best results for the last years. I am sure that finalists of the regional contest will place top positions this year,” noted Vladimir Vasilyev, ITMO University rector, in his opening speech.

According to the rules, each team consists of three programmers. They are given only one computer and five hours so as to solve 12 problems as fast as it possible. A program developed by participants is considered correct if it is completely tested by judges. If results are equal the fastest team becomes a winner.

According to regional results the team of Ural Federal University placed 1st by solving 11 problems. ITMO University was represented by Anton Kovsharov, who placed 3rd at ACM ICPC 2014, Adam Bardashevich and Vladimir Smykalov. Young programmers placed 5th and entered the top-12 teams that will take part in the world final of ACM ICPC 2016 in Thailand.

Russian programmers took part in ACM ICPC in 1993 for the first time. They have won the competition for the 10 times out of which six have been accomplished by ITMO University programmers. It is an absolute record!
