Description
ITMO University invites professors and lecturers teaching their courses in English to participate in a professional development course "English as a Medium of Instruction Teacher Training".
English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) Teacher Training is an intensive program for specialists interested in upgrading their knowledge and competencies for using English in their everyday teaching practice, developing their intercultural communication skills, and exploring contemporary education technologies.
The main aim of the course is to help participants adapt their professional approaches to teaching in English. You will learn how:
- to use modern education technologies for teaching in the English language;
- to effectively apply English in classes with students of different levels of language mastery;
- to work with cultural specifics of the international student audience;
as well as prepare and implement a demo lesson adapted to the EMI standards under the guidance of an authorized specialist who will follow up with their recommendations and feedback.
The format of the course: 12 weeks online and 1 week of intensive in-class learning at the end of January of 2020.
The language of instruction is English. The required level of English is B2 (Upper-Intermediate) or higher.
Three candidates from three different universities will get the opportunity to participate in the program on tuition-free basis. The main selection criteria are your motivation and experience of teaching in English.
The participants who have successfully completed the course will receive a certificate.
