Ballads of Other Worlds art exhibition

Immerse yourself into the atmosphere of mysterious worlds by visiting an exhibition of Igor Ivanov’s works at the ArtMuza Museum of Modern Art on Vasilievsky Island. Made of simple things that most of us just throw away, these works of art contain references to sci-fi novels and ancient legends and convey the author’s thoughts about the future, technology, the nature of the universe, and our place in it. Sounds cool, doesn’t it?

Exhibition of Violets

Based on the violet’s name, one may think that there can be only one kind of violet. The violet kind, duh! However, there are actually over 500 different varieties of violets, coming in a stunning array of colors: pink, cream, blue, yellow, white, or even a unique combination of two or three colors. You can learn more about these delicate flowers and admire their exquisite beauty at the Exhibition of Violets taking place on September 12-15. You can also get some expert care tips there and purchase leaf cuttings to grow your own violets at home!

Autumn Pastoral festival

This Sunday, September 15, the Pavlovsk palace-and-park ensemble is hosting a major festival, which will fill the museum’s 18th-century garden with a potpourri of seasonal fruit and veg harvested from the garden’s own trees and patches. Festival guests will get to enjoy tea from a real Russian samovar and feast on locally-made jams while enjoying live classical music. There will also be cooking workshops, art exhibitions, and tours of the park.

Earlymusic Festival of medieval music

The program of the 22nd Earlymusic Festival of Medieval Music features the premiers of several baroque ballet and opera concerts performed by well-known musicians from France and Spain.
