Today We Celebrate Victory Day
There’s probably not a single Russian family that wasn’t touched by the Second World War, or the Great Patriotic War as it is called in Russia and many former Soviet republics. The years 1941 – 1945 are engraved in all of us, even generations removed from the actual war, as the years of sacrifice, suffering, and faith in victory. It’s what we think about in times of hardship even now – the songs that we sang as kids at school about how victory is to be achieved it at any cost. And the cost was great.

Exchange Students from Brazil: 'They're Always Happy'
Students from around the world have come to participate in the IT and Innovation Business in Russia exchange semester at ITMO. Among them is a bright and bubbly group from Brazil. Every year a group of four or five students come from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) in Vittoria, on the east coast of Brazil, to join our exchange semester. Last year we talked to Esthevão who shared about what brought him to Russia. This year we talk with Angelo, Thales, Caio, Mateus and Yan who have been here for five weeks now, about their experience so far.

Russia by Rail: A First-Hand Experience
Tiny beds, crowded spaces, boiled eggs, instant noodles, cup-a-soup, new friends, riding on the open road: these are some of the endearing features of the legendary Trans-Siberian railway that so many foreigners long to experience. While I’ve never taken the full route from west to east, I’ve had a fairly full experience of Russian train travel and it turned out more fun than I ever expected.

From Equatorial Guinea to Russia
Bernardino Ondo Abaga Ada and Juan Zacarías Okue Ondo Mbang, two international students in their third year of studies at the Faculty of Technological Management and Innovation, came to study in St. Petersburg four years ago from Equatorial Guinea. In an interview with ITMO.NEWS they told us about how they took preparatory courses and learned Russian, how they entered the bachelor's program and some of the peculiarities of studying in Russia.
