  • FactoryFinder: ITMO Graduates Develop Service To Optimize Procurement

    According to the data by GfK Rus research agency, more than a third of Internet users regularly make purchases in Internet stores; consumers are becoming more used to choosing and buying things online, and various services allow them to quickly order a taxi, book a ticket or rent an apartment. Yet, can this work in the b2b segment? Purchase coordinators sometimes have to spend days or even weeks to find a really good offer and purchase the goods they were looking for. Team FactoryFinder decided to come up with a solution and developed an online service for optimizing the processes in procurement departments, a platform that brings together suppliers, engineers, and purchase coordinators. The service's main task is to automatize the work of the latter and let companies find best offers quickly. Half of FactoryFinder's team are graduates of ITMO and the company is a resident of the university's Technopark; as of now, it has offices in St. Petersburg, Tallin and Berlin.   • ITMO and Partners Launch Women’s Acceleration Program Girls4Tech

    On June 30 the Girls4Tech project school for female programmers, engineers and entrepreneurs was launched in St. Petersburg and Moscow. The school is organized by ITMO University, Moscow Polytechnic University and the Moscow office of international accelerator NUMA. In the next three months, the school’s participants, aided by mentors, will develop their soft and hard skills as part of a tailor-made educational program that includes lectures on innovation marketing and project management, programming classes, prototyping at FabLab, case solving, business games and various other activities.

  • ITMO Scientists Develop New Protective Pipeline Coating

    For several months a scientific team from ITMO University collaborated with scientists from the science division of JSC “Kronos SPb” on the creation of a new coating type intended to protect oil and gas pipelines from corrosion. The resulting coating meets all of the modern requirements and retains its protective properties under high temperatures. Evgenia Guseva, a postgraduate student at ITMO University’s Department of IT in the Fuel and Energy Industry and one of the creators of this material, spoke to ITMO.NEWS about what makes this new coating stand out among its existing counterparts on the market.

  • ITMO 3.0 Reload: Battle of the Strongest

    This Wednesday, on May 31, the final pitch session of ITMO Reload 3.0's second season took place. For the last two months, teams have been working on projects that had to do with commercializing a particular ITMO invention. Their work involved three stages: studying a technology, developing a project on its commercialization, and preparing for the investor presentation and pitch.  The six teams had only five minutes each to present their project to the experts and the event's partners and compete for the main prize - 50,000 rubles provided by the RexLexNova technology brokering company. The winner also got the opportunity to present his solution at an international business seminar in Ljubljana (Slovenia) organized by the Russian Cultural Center and RLN.   • From Idea to Business in Eight Weeks: The Second Session of ITMO 3.0 Reload

    About half a year ago, ITMO's student Malika Abdullaeva decided to replace protein cocktails with ice-cream that’s stripped from everything sportsmen avoid while "shredding" - fats, sugar and the like. The idea was suggested by her friend, who worked as a fitness instructor, and with help from ITMO 3.0 Reload, Malika succeeded in bringing the project to the point of actually having the end product. In just several months, her team Pro&Ice has not only perfected the recipe, but also brought it to the minimum viable product stage and even pitched their project in Finland, and is now getting ready to receive their first investment. Yet, there is more to come, believes Konstantin Peresh, ITMO 3.0's coordinator. On March, 29th, ITMO 3.0's second season starts, and several tens more students will get the opportunity to work with the university's technologies, study the market and make their first steps to launching their own businesses.
