  • How to Train for Competitions and Why do it Now

    2018’s admission campaign has just ended at ITMO. More than a third of the new students getting tuition-free education are winners and runner-ups of national competitions and competitions included in the list of the Russian Council of School Academic Contests. In order to successfully participate in such events, you have to start training in advance, even as early as in summer. ITMO.NEWS interviewed the university’s lecturers and asked them to share advice on training for competitions in several of the university’s fields of focus.

  • “I Am a Professional” Winners On How Competition Changed Their Lives

    First All-Russian “I am a Professional” student competition was held last year. Attracted by the opportunity of free admission to leading Master’s and doctoral programs nationwide, 294,242 students took part in the contest. To encourage the participants, ITMO University decided to go against the usual ‘the winner takes it all’ rule and stretched the right to free admission to the winners of the Semi-Hackathon that was held as part of ITMO’s “It’s Your Call!” winter school. ITMO.NEWS met with the competitions winners who decided to apply to ITMO and asked them what was memorable about the competitions, why they decided to take part, why they chose ITMO, and how the experience changed them.

  • ITMO University Launches Russia's First Art&Science Program in English

    Starting with the next academic year, ITMO University launches Russia's first Art&Science program in English which will combine the resources of the university's laboratories and competencies of leading Russian and international art specialists. The program will be conducted in English, with  involvement  of guest lecturers. Its graduates will have the opportunity to apply their new skills in such fields as contemporary art, art entrepreneurship, development of high-tech art projects, museum and exhibition management, and different other fields that only start to emerge on the market. The program will be supervised by Dimitri Ozerkov, a Russian art expert and head of the Department of Contemporary Art at the State Hermitage Museum. In an interview for ITMO.NEWS, he expanded on the program's content and features.

  • Leading Russian Universities Open Doors to International Students

    An intellectual competition for future international Master’s students, the Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project, is kicking off soon, with registration of participants beginning on Nov. 20, 2017. Winners will get an opportunity to study tuition-free, courtesy of the government of the Russian Federation, at Russia’s leading universities. The subject areas include Mathematics, Physics, Computer  Science and Economics. The contest is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and is organized by the “Global Universities” Association.
