  • Art & Science Exhibition STAGE 2022 Takes Place at ITMO

    On May 27, ITMO University launched the second annual exhibition of thesis projects by students from the Art & Science Master’s program, as well as participants of the Art Project as Thesis initiative. Among research advisors are prominent artists and researchers of new media: Natalia Fedorova, Dmitry Morozov (::vtol::), Ippolit Markelov, Helena Nikonole, Boris Shershenkov, and others.

  • Konstantin Fursov On Best Formats for Developing Science Communication

    For more than 15 years Konstantin Fursov has been engaged in research in the fields of science and technology. Some of his interests are the sociology and statistics of science, scientometrics, and public perception of science and innovations. Last year, Konstantin was invited to take the post of deputy head of research and education at the Polytechnic Museum and more recently he has joined ITMO’s Center for Science Communication through the ITMO Fellowship & Professorship program. In this interview, we asked Konstantin about his plans at ITMO, changes in Russian science, and tips for students learning statistics.

  • ITMO Graduate Alexey Feskov on Going From the Industry to Art & Science

    Alexey Feskov graduated from ITMO University almost ten years ago. After he received his diploma, he got a chance to work on several projects at Russia’s major companies Sberbank and Gazprom before he decided to change his career and come back to his alma mater. Now, Alexey is the technical director of ITMO’s Art & Science Center where his team managed to develop a brand new exhibition space for the works of Art & Science students and renowned contemporary artists. ITMO.NEWS talked to Alexey to learn more about how he found his niche, why he decided to quit his corporate job to start a creative one instead, and how different skills can make a great combo.

  • A Brief Guide to Hydra New Media Exhibition at Sevkabel Port

    The ongoing Hydra. New Media Art in the Context of Eco-Anxiety exhibition, which will be on display at Sevkabel Port until February 28, brings together the works of various Russian and European artists exploring environmental issues. The exhibition spans a broad scope of topics, from ecology to the co-existence of humans and nature, the Anthropocene era, and the conservation of natural resources as the only way to preserve species. Its educational partner is ITMO’s Art & Science Center, the students of which presented their joint VR-based project at the exhibition. Here’s what else to expect there.
