  • DIT4BEARs Online Internships: Projects by ITMO Students

    Internships of the DIT4BEARs project aimed at the development of information technologies for the Barents Euro-Arctic region took place in early 2021. They were conducted with support from ITMO Technopark that helps organize various events. Among the participants were two teams from ITMO University that won the project’s hackathon. In the course of their work with colleagues from Sweden and Finland, they helped solve real challenges that stand before the development of the countries of Northern Europe.

  • ITMO University Holds Course on Science Communication for Scholars and Grantees of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation

    The program aims to familiarize university staff with the recent practices in science communication and help them develop a communication strategy to promote their own projects. A total of 50 people from nearly 40 regions of Russia have recently become the first participants of the course. The program will run until the end of 2021.

    The lab is based at the Konstantine Grot boarding school for the visually impaired. At the lab’s presentation, showcased was the Neurotafl device that is meant to help develop creativity and abstract thinking in children with visual impairments.

  • Russian Scientists Develop Super Resonator in the Microwave Range

  • Gold Changes Light: Scientists Find Optimal Nanoparticle Shape for Controlling Color

    Researchers from Far Eastern Federal University and ITMO University optimized earlier produced gold nanoparticles in such a way that they control the wavelength of light in an optimal manner. The research can be used for creating cheap and high-precision gas analysers. The article was published in Applied Physics Letters.

  • St. Petersburg Scientists Propose Prototype of New Infrared Visualizer

    Scientists from ITMO University, Saint Petersburg Academic University, and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) have created a flexible and transparent membrane which makes infrared beams visible to the human eye. It can be used to make visualizers needed at optical laboratories and production facilities. Their work was published in ACS Nano journal.
