  • How to Start a Career in Radiophysics: Results of an Open Workshop at ITMO University

    Recently, ITMO University has hosted a large-scale workshop event with lectures by Russian and international scientists, as well as a roundtable on young specialists’ careers in the field of antenna technology and applied radiophysics. Participation was open for students of St. Petersburg universities.   • Smart Urban Environment: ITMO University Holds First Professional Development Course for Staff of Sevastopol State University

    Aiming to help the participants develop an understanding of the development of the smart city concept in Sevastopol, the course emerged as a result of a cooperation and partnership agreement between the two universities. Forming the basis of the course were the results achieved as part of ITMO’s National Center for Cognitive Technologies priority project “Metacognitive technologies for the management of smart city services”.

  • Students of Three European Universities Visit Russia to Study Closed-Loop Economy on the Example of St. Petersburg Companies

    CREA-RE-RU is a joint project by ITMO University, University of Gävle (Sweden), Lahti University of Applied Sciences (Finland), and University of Latvia. For two years now, the project’s participants have been solving real-life business cases provided by production plants and companies by developing effective schemes for utilizing natural resources. The project is divided into four study sessions: each semester, the participants are welcomed by a different partner university. ITMO University became the final venue, hosting the international students on February 17-21.

  • What Happens In Your Brain When You Look at a Photograph: Joint Project by ITMO Students and Rosphoto

    A group of students from ITMO University’s Faculty of Software Engineering and Computer Systems conducted an exhibition project in the Art & Science format for the Rosphoto museum. With the use of a virtual reality headset, the students revealed what parts of the brain are activated when we look at various photographs. Despite the fact that the project was created specifically for the Night of Museums, it didn’t end there and was recently demonstrated at the 12th Public Relations Russian Student Forum PRKiT 2019.   • ITMO University PhD Student Awarded Ostrogradski Scholarship

    Tatyana Latynina, a PhD student at ITMO University’s Faculty of Photonics and Optical Information, made it to the list of awardees of the Ostrogradski Program’s Scholarship. Held annually, the program aims at helping young scientists from Russia visit research laboratories in France to conduct joint research projects together with their French colleagues. This fall, Tatyana will spend a month and a half at the University of Rouen, where she will study advanced electrical aluminum alloys. Such materials are now being studied intensively by various research groups all over the world. Research in this field opens up new opportunities for controlling the materials’ properties, such as their strength, heat resistance, and electrical conductivity.

  • IT for Financial Experts: Bank Saint Petersburg Employees Received ITMO University Professional Development Certificates

    The conference hall of Bank Saint Petersburg hosted the closing ceremony of the professional development course created by ITMO University’s National Center for Cognitive Technologies (NCCT). Each participant was granted standard-issue certificates and three students with the highest scores received special gifts from the NCCT.
