  • Digital Professions Program: Over 1,000 People Are Studying IT With ITMO University

    The Digital Professions in Russia initiative keeps growing and ITMO University’s courses, offered as part of the program, have been immensely popular, with more than 1,100 students joining. Soon specialists from ITMO’s DH Center and International Research and Education Center Autodesk will launch four more online courses.

  • ITMO Student Chosen as St. Petersburg Representative on Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s Student Council

    In the spring of 2021, the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education expressed its support for the establishment of an official body that would be tasked with representing the opinions of students. In December, applicants from among the number of heads of student organizations were selected for the new Student Council. As a result, 82 students were chosen, each representing a federal subject. St. Petersburg is represented by Denis Ovesnov, a student of ITMO University’s School of Translational Information Technologies.

  • ITMO University in 2021: A Year in Review

    This year we celebrated 121 years of ITMO University. As with any other year, we had no shortage of challenges – but nothing we couldn’t rise above. There were also great new achievements to be proud of, such as grants, prizes, and awards and some extraordinary research accomplishments. On the international scale, we welcomed nearly 900 new international students.

But what if you could learn programming by working with a Boston Dynamics robot – and time management by playing a mobile game? That’s how it’s done at ITMO. We spoke to Alexandr Kapitonov, the dean of ITMO’s Faculty of Infocommunication Technologies; Anastasia Prichislenko and Marina Kazantseva, lecturers at the Personal Efficiency course; and Roman Makhmutov, the developer of the app Timeflow, about diversifying university education.

  • Congress of Young Scientists Day 3: Reviewing Year of Science and Technology in Russia

    A total of 3,000 students, researchers, and representatives of government and business took part in the Congress of Young Scientists in Sochi over the three days of the event. The congress concluded with a plenary session, where the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko, the Aide to the Russian President Andrei Fursenko, and the Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov discussed the results of the Year of Science and Technology in Russia with leading Russian researchers and representatives of tech companies.   • Results of ITMO's 2030 Open Call for Projects

    ITMO University is happy to announce the results of the open call for projects held as part of the 2030 Development Strategy. All in all, the university received 141 applications in four categories. Out of 57 projects approved for open defense, 36 have been chosen by the expert board as the winners.

  • Congress of Young Scientists Day 1: School of Russian Science Foundation, Art & Science, and Student Laboratories

    December 8 marked the start of the National Congress of Young Scientists – one of the closing events of the Russian Year of Science and Technology – in the Sirius Park of Science and Art, Sochi. More than 3,000 attended the congress on the first day. Among the participants are representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Russian Science Foundation (RSF), universities and research laboratories, leading IT and tech companies, as well as aspiring scientists and school students.
