  • HackUniversity: ITMO Students Become Award Winners at First Distributed Hackathon

    On March 20-22, the national university hackathon HackUniversity took place. This is the first time that the competition has been conducted online: over 90 teams solved cases and communicated with organizers in real-time mode. The four teams that became the competition’s award winners were from ITMO University. We talked to the members of team Inview and learned about the hackathon’s proceedings and the solution they proposed.

  • Two ITMO University Lecturers Receive Potanin Foundation Grant

    The Vladimir Potanin Foundation grant contest for university lecturers has concluded its 2020 run. A total of 747 representatives of 75 leading Russian universities took part in the selection. The grant was awarded to 100 successful candidates, two of whom are from ITMO University.   • First ITMO Ecohack Participants Create Automatic Waste Sorting System

    ITMO University has recently hosted its first environmental hackathon. The contest, co-organized by the ITMO.GREEN eco-club and ITMO Case Club, took place at Business Incubator Ingria.   • ITMO University’s Personal Development Center Launches a Course on Team Creativity

    The international educational platform Global Education Futures, which unites the world’s leading experts in the field of futurology, considers co-creation the key skill of the 21st century. Futurologists predict that by 2025, the approach to hiring workers will have undergone a radical change: instead of individual specialists, employers will take on creative project teams. Helping master this new but vital competency is Carousel of Creative Technologies, a team creativity development course developed by ITMO University’s Personal Development Center “Rhythm” together with the coaching company T&D Technologies. Over the course of a month and a half, from March 5 to April 16, the participants will attend six workshops and undertake a business quest which will result in completed team projects.

  • Students of Three European Universities Visit Russia to Study Closed-Loop Economy on the Example of St. Petersburg Companies

    CREA-RE-RU is a joint project by ITMO University, University of Gävle (Sweden), Lahti University of Applied Sciences (Finland), and University of Latvia. For two years now, the project’s participants have been solving real-life business cases provided by production plants and companies by developing effective schemes for utilizing natural resources. The project is divided into four study sessions: each semester, the participants are welcomed by a different partner university. ITMO University became the final venue, hosting the international students on February 17-21.

  • Living Paintings, Eco-Friendly Education and Compact Robots: The Results of “It’s Your Call!” Winter School

    The winter school "It’s Your Call!" 2020, jointly organized by ITMO University and Sberbank is over. Five days of lectures, workshops and teamwork under the leadership of a mentor allowed each of the eighteen teams to complete their own project and defend it as a short presentation. Top six projects made it to the finals, while the winning team received not only the opportunity to enter ITMO University without having to pass the entrance exam, but also valuable gifts – electric scooters.

  • ITMO University Student Team Becomes All-Round Winner of Moscow Travel Hack

    Representing ITMO at the hackathon were four teams, two of which won in their respective tracks and passed into the finals. One of them, Golden PSZh, became the all-round winner of Russia’s first large-scale hackathon on digitalization in the field of tourism. Right now, the students are in discussions on incorporating their system into a potential customer’s operations.   • ITMO Students Win a Grant from Gazprom Neft for Their Project on Abandoned Cars

    At the end of 2019, the results of a scholarship competition organized by ITMO University in collaboration with Gazprom Neft were announced. Among the winners is a team of ITMO University students, who came up with a comprehensive solution to the problem of abandoned cars, which involves their search, sorting and recycling. The students took first place in their track and were awarded a grant of 70,000 rubles. In this interview with ITMO.NEWS, they share their experiences of working on the project and their thoughts regarding the issue of abandoned cars.
