Description
On February 13 starting from 12:00, Fabio Bonsignorio will give a lecture titled "Towards the Circular Economy, Industry 4.0 and Beyond" at ITMO University.
Fabio Bonsignorio is a professor at the Biorobotics Institute of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, Italy. In his lecture at ITMO University, the scientist will talk about the concept of the closed-loop, also known as circular, economy.
The significant advances we're currently witnessing in the development of sensors, actuating devices, new materials, the Internet of Things and other fields of robotics and artificial intelligence allow for a radical overhaul of the manifacturing and distribution processes. Europe-wide, these changes are usually refered to as the digitization of the industry, and as industry 4.0 in Italy and Germany. One positive side-effect of these latest technological developments is that the closed-loop economy becomes more and more economically viable.
The lecture will cover technological and practical matters of the closed-loop economy and industry 4.0, as well as the prospects for research and application of these concepts.
