Description

The sixth science stand-up show “Quantum Potential” (“Квантовый потанцевал”) by ITMO University will take place on March 11 at the Kosmonavt Club.

Big Data, photonics, and IT specialists, who can talk about science not only so that everyone would understand, but also so that everyone would love it and have a laugh, are invited to participate. These specialists are usually giving lectures, and possibly boring their students… but the stand-up show is their chance to finally show their quantum potential.

No limits – just pure scientific wit and a flood of NH2-Tyr-Gly-Gly-Phe-Met-Thr-Ser-Glu-Lys-Ser-Gln-Thr-Pro-Leu-Val-Thr-Leu-Phe-Lys-Asn-Ala-Ile-Ile-Lys-Asn-Ala-His-Lys-Lys-Gly-Gln-COOH!

Invited scientists/stand-up comedians:

  1. George Zograf, PhD student at ITMO University’s Faculty of Physics and Engineering

    Topic: Nano-Heads and Meta-Tails

To survive on 100 dollars or to travel luxuriously? Who apart from British scientists works abroad? How to hold a koala the right way?

  1. Pavel Potemkin, a comedian and a dreamer, who gave up his job for nothing; first-year Master’s student at ITMO University’s Science Communication program

Topic: Why Didn’t St. Petersburg Flourish under Sobyanin?

How does the city speak to us and vice versa? Can you stay nice if you live in a huge apartment building? Why do we need Shushary?

  1. Anastasia Kushkoeva, PhD student at ITMO's Faculty of Applied Optics, director for technologies at ICVS, would slay for quality

Topic: Allotropic Carbon Modifications Are a Girl's Best Friend!

Why is the quality of sapphires and sausages evaluated according to the same criteria? Are these jewels really so precious?

We have also invited a real stand-up comedian. Not a scientist.

  1. Boris Zeliger is a student at Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No.239 and the youngest stand-up comedian in Russia! He participated in Moscow and St. Petersburg stand-up festivals, became a prize-winner at a stand-up festival in Kazan and participated in the “Make a Comedian Laugh” (“Рассмеши комика”) TV-project.

The host is Nidal Abu-Gazale, the TNT Comedy Battle participant, founder and host of ABU SHOW, and one of the organizers of the stand-up movement in St. Petersburg.
