Since the last review in February 2015, ITMO University made a major breakthrough, rising by 27 positions among the world universities. In Russia ITMO University is found in the Top Ten taking the 6th place. For the last few years ITMO University was in Top-50 Universities of Central and Eastern Europe. Now it places 44th. Moreover, ITMO University takes the 135th place in the BRICS Ranking, gaining 31 positions in the last six months.
"Webometrics Ranking of World Universities" appeared in 2004 as one of the largest academic web rankings of Higher Education Institutions. The methodology of the “Webometrics” is based on web presence and impact of the universities. "Webometrics” aims to intensify transfer of scientific and cultural knowledge generated by the universities to the whole society. Now the "Webometrics” Ranking includes more than 20 000 universities from all over the world. About 1 500 of them are Russian.
Furthermore last week ITMO University snatched the fourth place among universities in Russia in the most recent Web Ranking by 4 International Colleges & Universities (4ICU).
