Yandex ML Prize

Yandex ML Prize is a science award for machine learning specialists, as well as their teachers and supervisors. 

Applications are being accepted on the award’s official website until October 16. The grant prize is 500,000-1,000,000 rubles depending on the category. 

Areas

This year, the range of fields for which awards are given was increased to make five in total: Generative Models, Speech Recognition and Synthesis, Computer Vision, Information Retrieval, and Natural Language Processing and Machine Translation.

Countries

The contest welcomes participants from 11 countries, including Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, as well as the recently-included Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

Categories

The award includes five categories: 

• First Publication;

• Researchers;

• Young Academic Supervisors;

• Academic Supervisors;

• ML Educators;

• Yandex Researchers (for Yandex full-time employees or residents).

The academics and Yandex researchers who make up the award committee will choose the winners, who will each receive a cash prize, a 360-day subscription to Yandex 360 services, and a grant (up to 500,000 rubles) for Yandex Cloud, a cloud computing service for large calculations and experimental data analysis. 

The award ceremony will be held in December 2023.

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD students from universities or research institutions in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, or Uzbekistan.

Participants are required to have a first publication or report, including a poster, at an A* or A conference in 2022-2023.
