What first sparked your interest in robotics and AI?
I've always been fascinated by technology's power to transform lives. What drew me to robotics and AI is their potential to solve real-world problems, from healthcare to automation. Creating intelligent systems that improve human life gives me a strong sense of purpose.
Why did you choose to pursue your Bachelor's abroad, and what made ITMO stand out?
I wanted to gain diverse perspectives on engineering from the very beginning. ITMO stood out for its reputation in robotics and AI, its interdisciplinary approach, and the hands-on curriculum. The opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field was a major draw, too.

What has been the biggest adjustment since moving from Lebanon to St. Petersburg?
The climate was the biggest challenge at first. But the city's beauty and the welcoming community at ITMO made the transition much smoother than I expected. It has been a valuable lesson in adaptability.
How have you found the academic environment at ITMO's Faculty of Control Systems and Robotics?
It has exceeded my expectations. The staff are knowledgeable and genuinely supportive, the curriculum is rigorous yet practical, and collaboration across disciplines is actively encouraged. I appreciate how theory and practice are integrated from the start.
What has surprised you most about life in St. Petersburg?
The city's cultural richness. There are world-class museums, stunning architecture, and a vibrant arts scene. It feels alive with history and creativity at every corner. I didn't expect to find such a deep cultural soul in a place known primarily for its cold weather.
How do you spend your free time?
I stay active with football and enjoy walks along the canals. It's a great way to clear my mind after long study sessions. I also enjoy cooking; it reminds me of home and helps me recharge after a busy week. There's something comforting about preparing a familiar meal in a foreign kitchen.

What keeps you motivated during difficult moments?
My long-term vision of making an impact through technology keeps me going. The support of my family back home is also a constant source of strength. And being part of a community of international students at ITMO, all sharing this journey, reminds me that every challenge is part of growth, not an obstacle, but a step forward.
What advice would you give to Lebanese students considering ITMO?
Embrace the experience fully. Be open to new cultures, step out of your comfort zone, and use every opportunity available to you – academically, socially, and personally. It's not always easy, but it's always worth it. You're building not just a career, but a global perspective and a network that will stay with you for life.
