Notes

RemNote

In the app, you can take notes and easily turn them into flashcards for spaced repetition and quick revision before exams. You can also upload PDFs and annotate them (limited number of documents in the free version), as well as accumulate the information and assemble your own personal knowledge base as you progress in your classes.

Gemini Notebook

Upload your sources, like key articles, notes, or documents, and have them summarized by the app. You can ask questions about the uploaded materials and be provided with links to your sources or, what’s cooler, get the app to ask you questions to help you learn and understand better.

Presentations

Napkin AI

If you are struggling to present your project in an engaging way, this service can help you. Upload the text you are working with and play with different ways it can be visualized: as a visual metaphor, all kinds of charts, block schemes, and more. Even if you don’t keep the design suggested in the app, this can give you a new perspective on your data or conclusions – and a memorable way to present it.

Gamma AI

With this service, you can create not just one visual, but an entire presentation – or you can upload yours and see it in a new design. In the free version, you can only work with 10 slides. As with Napkin AI, the benefit of this tool is that it can give you a fresh look at your slides and a way to organize information on them in a more engaging way.

Literature search and review

Consensus AI

If diving into a new topic feels intimidating, start with Consensus. The service searches through millions of peer-reviewed papers selecting the ones most relevant to your query and provides quotes, references, and links to full texts if available. Thus, you can get a quick or deep overview of a topic, noting the key authors, directions, and research gaps – the perfect start for your literature review.

Research Rabbit

This service is cool for those cases when you have some key papers to rely on but you want to see a broader network of their citations and references to get a better feel of the research field. ReseachRabbit relies on a similar database of peer-reviewed papers, presenting related papers as a graph you can zoom into and explore – plus article abstracts and links whenever available.

ChatPDF

This one’s handy if you want to get a better grasp of a specific paper: just upload it to the service and chat with it. Answers to your questions will be backed with highlights in the document, so that you can get to the bottom of even the most complex article.
