Ira Vasilieva is a well-known local artist who has, over the years of her creative career, taken part in exhibitions by different art collectives. On display, you will see an assortment of paintings created “inter summers” – not in summer: red-brick buildings, old-fashioned furniture, and an interplay of light and shadow. Moreover, the Borey Gallery is one of the city’s most prominent non-profit exhibition spaces and a must-visit for anyone interested in the local art scene.

Rachmaninoff: 150th anniversary concert

On April 1, the St. Petersburg State Philharmonia celebrates Sergei Rachmaninoff’s 150th anniversary of birth with a concert featuring Capriccio on Gypsy Themes, Piano Concerto No. 1, and Symphony No. 1. This is your chance to experience some of the legendary composer’s earliest and most beloved works, performed by the St. Petersburg Philharmonic orchestra and conducted by esteemed Alexander Lazarev. You can find tickets here.

Critically Normal: a street art exhibition

Yet another St. Petersburg-based artist, Alexander Kipsone, is having his work exhibited this week: this time, it’s a street art collection at DiDi Gallery. The exhibition space is described as mimicking our digital environments, filled with fragments of texts and graphics. Like a puzzle to be solved, the works will offer their meaning to anyone patient enough to piece them together.

Old-school games: an interactive exhibition

Speaking of puzzles, here’s an opportunity for all fans of the oldest gaming consoles: an interactive exhibition in the heart of the city. Dendy, SNES, Sega Mega Drive, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 1 and 2, and the original Xbox – you’ll get to play them all, discovering the oldies for the first time or reminiscing about the years gone by. What’s more, some Soviet consoles from the ‘80s will be on display as well, for the most daring and adventurous. Ready player one!
