• Spanish Environmental Biotechnologists on the Environmental Situation, Greta Thunberg and Two-Phase Air Filters

  Two environmental biotechnologists from Valladolid University, Spain came to St. Petersburg to give a course at ITMO University. Right before their departure we got a chance to meet them to talk about ways to improve the environmental situation and how these are different in Russia and Spain, as well as discuss the academic exchange opportunities for Master’s students.

  According to the QS EECA University Rankings 2019/20, ITMO University has once again improved its standing, rising by 10 places and ranking 46th. Every year, QS experts identify the top universities in the developing countries of Europe and Central Asia. This time, 14 Russian universities made it to the top-50.

• ITMO University Changes Its Full Official Name

  On October 11, a new edition of ITMO University's statute, which includes a new official title, was registered and entered into force by Order No. 1,358 of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The key to the “ITMO” abbreviation and a reference to St. Petersburg are no longer included in the name.

• ITMO University Team Wins NordCTF With More Points Than All Other Contestants Put Together

  The final of the regional NordCTF cyber security contest took place in the St. Petersburg “Boiling Point” center. ITMO University team has managed to finish first with a fourfold margin. Our correspondent observed the competition and was lucky enough to talk to its hosts about computer forensics, hacker footprint tracking methods and the fate of the current winners.
