ITMO Researchers Propose New Production Method for Biosensor Nanoparticles
Physicists from ITMO’s International Research and Educational Center for Physics of Nanostructures have proposed a method of generating plasmonic chiral nanoparticles with the help of “twisted” laser radiation. The obtained structures can be used in biosensors and polarized photodetectors, detect impurities in gasses and liquids, as well as purify medications.

ITMO Welcomes New PhD Students From Over 20 Countries
ITMO University has summed up the results of this year’s admission campaign. In 2023, applications for PhD programs went up 35% from the previous admissions season, reaching the highest recorded number in recent years. Another area of significant increase was enrollment of international students – this fall, the university welcomes PhD students from 24 countries across Europe, Asia, and the CIS.

ITMO Hosts First-Ever METANANO Summer School in China
The METANANO Summer School on Nanophotonics and Advanced Materials recently wrapped up in Qingdao, China. A hundred researchers from Russia, China, Israel, Australia, Switzerland, and other countries spent three days discussing laser technologies for perovskite nanocoatings, multifunctional materials for thermal regulation, and other topics.
