  One of the great drawcards of St. Petersburg is the beautiful architecture that you can see in and around the city center. Historically, private houses in St. Petersburg could not be built taller than the height of the Winter Palace, so the more-or-less horizontal skyline of the city was preserved. That being said, there are plenty of beautiful rooftops, riverside restaurants, and suburban cafes where you can enjoy not only a nice meal but also an inspiring vista of the entire city.
