The new sports complex will be found in the north-western part of ITMO Highpark, the university’s upcoming campus. Its main area is a 36x65-meter ice arena for 499 spectators; the ice rink itself is 26x60 meters and will serve as training ground for hockey and figure skating practice.

Also included in the project are a swimming pool, a rowing pool, multi-purpose halls for team sports, a climbing wall, rooms with special flooring for rhythmic gymnastics and choreography, and a gym. The martial arts hall will feature specialized training areas for various martial arts – a wrestling mat, a boxing ring, and warm-up zones.

By design, the sports complex is meant to accommodate interfaculty and interuniversity tournaments, as well as official city-level competitions. The space will be available not only to ITMO students, but to residents of St. Petersburg as well.

Earlier, ITMO Highpark’s research centers and dormitories, as well as other buildings, also received official approval. The new campus will welcome 3,600 Master’s and PhD students, as well as around 12,000 faculty and staff.

Currently under construction, ITMO Highpark is located in the Pushkinsky District and will become an important development driver in the south of St. Petersburg. The project is implemented by ITMO University in collaboration with the governments of Russia and St. Petersburg within the state program Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation.
