Universities were evaluated based on five key indicators: quality of networking, employer reputation, international reputation, academic environment, and number of graduates in the Forbes Russia billionaires list. In 2025, ITMO has significantly improved its position in the ranking compared to last year. Such an increase is to be expected: in 2025, ITMO has once again proven its leadership in the national program Priority 2030, securing over 1 billion rubles in federal funding. What’s more, the university has presented its new development strategy, which centers on its transformation into a research, educational, and technological corporation. One of ITMO’s key priorities is AI, which is to become a foundation for all educational, research, and business processes at the university.
Currently, ITMO implements a total of 23 educational programs in AI and has recently received over 350 million rubles towards the training of top specialists in AI and over 160 million rubles – for training of specialists in IT. One of the university’s main objectives is to produce highly qualified graduates who require zero workplace adaptation time and are capable of solving tasks for the attainment of technological leadership in collaboration with AI. In other university rankings, ITMO comes second based on the average salary of its IT graduates, and among the top ten – in both employer reputation and quality of IT specialists training.
