Kiberpyshechnaya is a joint project by ITMO and Yandex Education that combines popular science and modern technologies in an urban festival.

From August 21 to September 6, Kiberpyshechnaya will visit five Russian cities: Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, and St. Petersburg.

In each city, the project will host a mini festival with engineering and logic puzzles, a science quiz, and a consultation booth from ITMO’s Admissions Office. What’s more, experts from ITMO and Yandex will deliver open lectures on science, technologies, and trends in IT. Visitors will also be able to join a VR tour of St. Petersburg and ITMO.

The project’s main symbol is a pyshka, one of St. Petersburg’s most iconic culinary calling cards. Visitors can purchase pyshki and prizes with their pyshkatokens, an internal currency given out in quizzes and other activities. These coins can be exchanged for snacks, merch, and other prizes, while the most active participants will get the chance to win a PlayStation console.

Participants from any part of the country can also compete for the Sony console by completing tasks on the project’s website and recording a short video about the technology they would use to change the world. The video should be posted on social media with the hashtag #киберпышечная.
